While neither studio class nor recitals are required for students of the Cari Shipp Music Studio, they are strongly encouraged! These extra opportunities for performance and learning are offered to enrich the musical experience and education of students.

Studio Class

While learning to play your instrument is a highly individualized pursuit, learning about music is often better together! Ideas and concepts are expounded upon by your peers providing for a richer, more balanced musical education. Studio class is a meeting of all of my students together. These classes provide the opportunity to learn about music together, play for and with one another, and to dig into topics that private study does not often allow time for such as music theory and music history. Studio class occurs up to twice a year and is included in the price of lessons for studio members, but an extra fee for flex students.

Recitals

Recitals are the chance to share what you’ve been working on with piers, families, and friends! I create a welcoming but professional environment for students of all ages to publicly perform a piece we choose together. Two recitals are held per year, one in the winter (usually January) and one in the spring (May or June). The recital is free to attendees. Like the studio classes, there is no cost to be included as a studio member and flex students pay a fee to participate.
