Classically trained, passionately driven.
Educated at Interlochen Arts Academy, the University of North Texas, and the Peabody Conservatory, Cari brings her premier education into every corner of her performances and teaching. What drives her to teach creatively, perform dynamically, and spread her love of classical music to students and audiences alike is her passion.
Cari performs widely in Charlottesville, Central Virginia, and the Shenandoah Valley as a soloist, chamber musician, and orchestral musician. Her primary project is her benefit concert series SONOSYNTHESIS which she founded in 2017. She gives 2-4 solo concerts a year through this series in addition to her other engagements. As a teacher, Cari partners with each student to enable their expression to be as free and flexible as possible. She teaches each student on a highly individualized level and believes everyone is entitled to find their flute voice and “sing” it regardless of their long-term musical goals. Above the stage in Kresge Auditorium at Interlochen Arts Academy, overlooking the lake, it says “dedicated to the promotion of world friendship through the universal language of the arts.” I first saw those powerful words at the age of twelve, and have carried them close to my heart ever since. Whether we meet as teacher and student, co-performers, or as performer and audience member, I’m honored to connect through this universal language that moves us all.
